About ISSSMC

The XXVIth Galyna Puchkovska International School-Seminar "Spectroscopy of Molecules and Crystals" (ISSSMC 2024) will take place on September 22-25, 2024, in Wojanów Palace, Poland and it will be organized in the frame of the ICMS 2024 conference.

We are organizing the ISSSMC 2024 in honor of the late Prof. Galyna Puchkovska (1934-2010), a famous Ukrainian physicists, and world-known spectroscopist who was the founder and the soul of this meeting. She was, for several years, the chair of various ISSSMC conferences, a great friend, and a well-respected colleague in our community. Her influence on the lives of her close friends, relatives, and scientific colleagues will not be forgotten and she is deeply missed.

ISSSMC 2024 is the twenty sixth event in the series of the biennial Galyna Puchkovska International School-Seminars on Spectroscopy of Molecules and Crystals that focuses on all modern aspects of experimental and theoretical spectroscopy of crystalline solids and magnetic materials, nanosystems, liquid crystals and amorphous materials, liquids, polymers and biological systems, surfaces and thin films, materials for opto- and molecular electronics, new spectroscopic methods and applications. The series began in 1973 in Uzhhorod, and then was held in different locations throughout Ukraine – Kharkiv, Sumy, Nizhyn, Ternopil, Odessa in 2000, Sevastopol -Crimea (from 2005 to 2013), followed by Mukachevo (2015), Kyiv (2017), again in Odessa (2019) and Kyiv (2021). Since 2010, the ISSSMC bears the name of the late professor Galyna Puchkovska (1934-2010). In total, almost 3,000 scientists and students from more than 20 countries, have attended the previous ISSSMCs.

The events have a friendly, informal academic atmosphere for scientists, researchers, and students to share their experiences and recent advances covering all aspects of molecular spectroscopy. They also provide a platform for participants to present and discuss their most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of molecular spectroscopy.

We believe that the ISSSMC 2024 conference, like the previous ones and despite the difficulties due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, will be an exciting forum for all the participants to exchange their experiences and present their results to the scientific community.
